According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), infants aged 3 months should sleep 14-17 hours, infants aged 4-12 months should sleep 12-16 hours, toddlers aged 1-2 years should sleep 11-14 hours, children aged 3-5 years should sleep 10-13 hours, children aged 6-12 years should sleep 9-12 hours, adolescents aged 13-18 years should sleep 8-10 hours, and adults over 18 years should sleep 7-9 hours daily. What are the consequences of sleep deprivation? Continuous sleep deprivation can lead to risks such as high blood pressure, obesity, stroke, heart disease, asthma, poor mental health, and confusion. Furthermore, sleep deprivation can impair cognitive and memory functions, as well as work and school performance. What are the causes of sleep deprivation? Most of the time, incorrect lifestyle habits and stressful living conditions are the main causes of sleep deprivation. Following irregular sleep schedules, using electronic devices such as phones, laptops, TVs before bedtime, excessive light or noise in the sleeping area, or consuming substances like caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol can contribute to sleep deprivation. Medical conditions such as sleep disorders, depression, heart disease, asthma, mental disorders, and infections can also lead to sleep deprivation.
