Pomegranate - Punica Granatum: Common Benefits: Pomegranate grows well in fertile soil. It is cultivated in many parts of India. Its origin is believed to be Iran and it spread to countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Southeast Asia, and Afghanistan. It is a small tree that grows up to about 10 to 25 feet. Its flowers are red or orange in color and bear fruits. The fruit has a leathery skin outside and contains juicy arils inside, which are red or pinkish-white in color. The fruit contains seeds surrounded by a translucent, sweet, and juicy pulp. There are three types of seeds: sweet, sour, and neutral. From these seeds, various useful products are obtained. The seeds are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Medicinal Properties: The fruit of the pomegranate, when squeezed and mixed with water, provides relief from thirst, heat, diarrhea, and dysentery.
